Introduction: Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) is organizing a Business Incubation Training on Adventure Tourism at IIE, Guwahati for the prospective youth on adventure tourism enterprises in NER.
North East India has an incredible prospect to promote tourism industries through adventure sports. The major trekking routes in northeast India include all the eight states including Sikkim. This provides a rare wilderness experience. There are countless trekking routes that have been recently opened for the trekking enthusiasts. For an enthusiastic leisure seeker, only a few destinations in the world would match the dimensions of the northeast India.
Arunachal Pradesh, the extreme north eastern state of India is one of the most unexplored areas of the Himalayas. This green patch of India is botanically rich and complete with trekking opportunities and hundreds of plant species, rare to find elsewhere in the world. The trekking opportunity in Meghalaya is outstanding for the fact that, the terrain is very challenging like in Himalayan areas but with the advantage of not being snow-wrapped. An added attraction is the possibility of intimating with many rare species of flora & fauna, only available in this part of the world.
Scope of Adventure Tourism in NER: North East has lavishly endowed with vast wealth of forests, rivers, lakes, waterbodies, hills and mountains which can draw large number of visitors from around the world. Assam is called the land of Blue Hills and Red Rivers. Additionally, several of the Indian States like, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Sikkim, has developed good infrastructure to attract adventure sports enthusiast to visit these States for mountaineering, trekking, skiing and water sports. These states are earning not only large revenue, but also generating employment opportunities for their people, particularly the Youths. The Seven Sisters State of the North East can also be a national and international hub of these activities and to attract domestic and foreign tourists, if proper steps are taken at the earliest.
Proposed Programme: Business Incubation Training on Adventure Tourism will be fully residential in IIE Campus and practical training will be in and around Guwahati Rock fields & water sport points. This incubation training includes mountaineering, basic rock climbing, jungle safari, jungle camping & water sports etc. Apart from practical training, management topics would also be covered such as introduction of adventure tourism, adventure tourism as a business venture, entrepreneurship, business communication, risk management, operations management & legal formalities as well as liability for setting up an adventure tourism enterprise. The whole North East being a seismic zone, is a very vulnerable place for earthquake. Also to add, floor is a perennial problem of Assam. So, Preparedness and Management of Disaster Training will also be included. It will help the trainees to help the common people by giving awareness to minimize fear, boost confidence among people, reducing human lifeloss and material property damage and minimize the period of recovery. Mentoring support for setting up of business venture will be provided after successful completion of the training.

SCOPE OF VENTURE & PLACEMENT AT VARIOUS SECTORS:
Participants: Any person those who have entrepreneurial zeal to take up this venture as a profession with a minimum educational qualification of matric/ HSLC pass within the age group 15 to 40 years. Participants having basic training on adventure sports & tourism graduate will get preference for this course.

Course Fee: 5000.00 (Five Thousand only) towards accommodation, food & training cost.

Selection: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their experience in this field and personal interview. Since this will be a continual programme a panel will be made for future announcements.
Incubation support: The trained candidates will be provided the incubation as well as handholding support such as backward & forward linkages for setting up their ventures in this sector.
Faculties & Instructors: In house faculties from IIE on entrepreneurship & enterprise management will take the sessions. Qualified instructors /guest faculties for theory & practical on adventure sports activities will be invited from concerned technical agencies & prominent mountaineers as well as Everesters from Assam & NE.

About IIE: Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. The main aim of the Institute is to provide training, research and consultancy activities in Small and Micro Enterprises (SME), with special focus on entrepreneurship development.
